For agencies, NGOs and partners

Bring community warning to your area

DEV.B fills the "last mile" gap in early warning: the minutes between when people on the ground see danger and when an official warning reaches them. It needs no sirens, towers or new hardware, only phones people already carry.

DEV.B is in testing and preparing its first community pilot. We are looking for partners.

Disaster agencies

Community reports can reach residents, and you, sooner. We want to work with agencies to add local shelters, emergency numbers and languages. DEV.B complements official sirens and SMS systems; it does not replace them, and its alerts are always labelled as community reports.

Local governments

Help your residents install DEV.B, name places that can host relay phones (schools, clinics, markets, places of worship) and share your official shelters, so the map shows real places.

NGOs and donors

Fund community training and relay phones for a region rather than infrastructure. DEV.B works better the more people nearby have it, so local outreach is the most valuable investment.

Telecoms

Zero-rate the app download and future data use, and talk to us about carrying an SMS fallback for areas where data is down but text messages still work.

Device makers

DEV.B is built for low-cost Android phones. We welcome conversations about pre-installing it and about testing on your devices.

Deploy in your district

  1. Choose a community at risk of sudden local hazards.
  2. Agree on relay-phone locations and local contacts.
  3. Add local shelters, numbers and language.
  4. Help residents install the app and run a drill.
  5. Measure what happens. For example: how many minutes earlier did the community see a hazard than official channels?

Add shelters and numbers

Send us your official shelter list (name, location, capacity) and emergency numbers. We plan to show them in the app for your area.

Add a language

DEV.B has 30 languages. To add another, or to check an existing translation, we need a native speaker to review about 200 short phrases, most of them safety instructions. Contact us.

Run a community drill

A drill lets residents practise reporting, confirming and responding to alerts, and shows how far an alert travels in your area. Tell people clearly beforehand that it is a drill.

Training materials

Simple, picture-based training materials for community volunteers are in preparation. Write to us if you would like to help shape them.

Request a briefing

Write to contact@devdotb.com with your organisation, area and what you would like to do. We will reply to arrange a call.
